The Paul Wallin Scholarship

The Wallin Scholarship is awarded to a WULL Player in memory of Paul Wallin.  Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. May 10, 2011.  Details are listed below.

GENERAL INFORMATION

•    An applicant must have played at least one (1) year in West University Little League.
•    An applicant must be a May/June graduate of a Houston-area high school.
•    An applicant must be a college-bound. (Freshman only).
•    An applicant must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above.
•    An applicant must have participated in one (1) school sport and have been active in athletics for at least two (2) years during high school.
•    An applicant must characterize the qualities of Discipline, Desire, and Dedication.
•    An applicant must submit the following written materials: (1) a letter from the applicant to the Wallin Scholarship Committee; (2) no more than four (4) letters of recommendation; and (3) a completed application form, with certifying signatures.  The applicant’s letter should describe the applicant’s academic and athletic achievements as well as the applicant’s exemplification of the attributes of Desire, Discipline and Dedication.
•    The application materials must be received by the Wallin Scholarship Committee on our before Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM.  The materials should be mailed or delivered to:

•    The Wallin Scholarship Committee will notify the scholarship recipient of the award on May 24, 2011.  The scholarship check will be presented to the recipient at the West University Little League Closing Ceremonies on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
•    The scholarship amount is $2,000.00

The Matthew Resnick Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in memory of Matthew Dean Resnick, #6, who passed away following a tragic accident in January, 2008. Matthew truly loved the game of baseball. This joy is carried on by his family-parents Scott and Mary and brother, Mark- and shared with the entire West University Little League Family.

The Matthew Resnick Scholarship Fund has been set up with West University Little League.  Nominated by coaches from the A, AA, AAA and Major Divisions, a player will be selected who represents the three characteristics that made Matthew so loved by all. Those characteristics are:  Leadership, Character and Passion for the Game. 

$1000 will be awarded to the player's college fund.  To donate to the fund, please make checks payable to:   The Matthew Resnick Scholarship Fund and mail to the address below.
