We are suspending the season until at least April 19. As the situation changes daily, we will continue to update the website and send emails regarding the season. We hope to see you on the fields soon but want to ensure the safety of our players, buddies and coaches. We hope you are well. Please contact me with any questions.
The Challenger Division of West University Little League is a baseball program for boys and girls ages 5 through the final year of high school or 22 (whichever comes first) with physical and mental challenges. The most fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give everyone a chance to play baseball and have a rewarding experience, regardless of limitations. This program affords every child the opportunity to participate in a structured athletic program and have a wonderful time.
The Challenger Division was originally developed in 1989 and is Little League International's way of providing boys and girls with challenges the opportunity to experience the emotional development and the fun of playing Little League baseball. Today, more than 22,000 players participate in the Little League Challenger Division nationwide.
The Challenger program also helps to establish strong bonds of friendship and understanding between Little Leaguers from other programs and Challenger children in an atmosphere of sharing and caring. In Challenger games, middle school and high school aged volunteers, or Challenger Buddies, help the players by acting as team guides for children who may not be able to play baseball on their own. This interaction has proven to be a positive experience for all the children involved as Challenger players enjoy the thrill of participation, and their "buddies" experience first hand the challenges these children face in their daily lives.
The Challenger Division will have 8 teams and will have 6 games. Games are always held on Sunday afternoons at 2pm at the WULL fields. The six games will be held:
May 3 (last game and End of Season party)
More information to come regarding pictures and parent meeting.
Challenger families are also invited to attend WULL's Opening Ceremonies and Carnival on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12-3pm (rain or shine) to help us kick off our baseball season.
The Challenger Season concludes with a trophy presentation and party for all of the Challenger Division players. Parents and Buddies are invited to attend. This event will take place after our last game on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at West U Elementary.
